Busy does not automatically mean balanced. Indoor cats often need better rhythm, not nonstop entertainment.

What useful enrichment looks like

Good activity often includes:

  • short play sequences
  • predictable daily timing
  • opportunities to observe and climb
  • quiet recovery afterwards

That creates engagement without constant arousal.

What often backfires

Some routines make cats more restless by:

  • overstimulating without clear endings
  • rotating toys constantly without structure
  • confusing excitement with satisfaction

More motion is not always better.

The better target

Aim for activity that ends well. A cat who can switch back into calm is usually getting better enrichment.
